After participating in NaNoWriMo twelve (thirteen??) times, I was thrilled at the opportunity to write a blog post as part of their NaNo Guest series. When it comes to pantsing a novel, I’ve got that down to an art. But, my method is ninety-eight percent chaos and two percent payoff, so that wasn’t an ideal topic for my guest post.
Instead, I thought about my experiences going to writing events like conferences, write-ins, and workshops. The most common theme? How extrovert-centric they were, and how my introvert brain just can’t handle the activity. Raising hands, talking, asking questions… gulp… sharing??
The problem isn’t going to events. I love events! I can’t get enough of in-person conferences. Meeting people, engaging, learning, collaborating. It’s fantastic.
But, by the time I leave, my battery is drained. So, instead of giving writing tips in my guest post, I tackled a topic that I’m sure resonates with plenty of other writers: Introvert-Friendly Writing Events.
Hop on over to the NaNoWriMo Blog to check out the guest post. Whether you’re an introvert or an extrovert, you might find some of the tips helpful when planning (or attending) events, writing-related or not.
You know, when events are actually… a thing, again. * shakes fist at pandemic *
